Last week I recieved some Hippe Snuffelzakjes. I went completely crazy! They are so beautiful and smell amazing. I would love to tell you more about them. And if you keep reading you'll find that I have a give away at the end of this blog.
With a message on facebook catmom came into contact with the owner of Hippesnuffelzakjes.nl. A webshop with cheerfully colored bags that are irresistible for cats in terms of smell. And irresistible for catowners because of the fun they give and the happiness they bring with their looks. One thing led to another and this resulted in a collaboration.
What are Hippe snuffelzakjes?
Here on the photo you can see me with 3 the bags. They are filled with catnip, valerian or matabi and are therefore irresistible for most cats. My owner knows I love catnip but I also like the Matabi bag.
The bags are handmade play bags for cats and are available in various sizes and designs. You can have bags with only the fragrance in them, but there are also bags with a crisp, bell or ribbon which makes it even more fun to play with. I will tell my owner to buy me the ribbon bags. I love ribbons too so that would be double amazing!
Playing never gets old
Playing is a very important part of keeping your cat young. By playing, a cat can learn things, lose energy and stay healthier. It doesn't matter whether your cat is 6 months, 1 year, 5 years or 15 years old. Every cat plays in its own way and there bags can certainly be part of that.
The bags from Hippesnuffelzakjes.nl look cheerful and really challenge your cat to play. Did you see the little video of me the first time I'd got these bags? I loved them so much that I went completely crazy. I kept hugging them and sniffing them. The smell of the bags evokes certain behavior in cats and I would like to explain what the various scents / herbs do
The herbs
- Catnip: Many people know catnip and how it works. But for those who don't know it yet, I'll tell you what this does for cats. Our servants call it weed for cats. We seem to get really high from catnip and are going to extensively give cups, cuddle and even defend everything that has that smell on it. This has already caused some fights between me and Spidey because we both happened to want the same catnip toy. It is completely safe for cats, but not every cat reacts the same and some cats do not respond at all. You can use catnip to make toys more attractive or to help a cat relax. That is why the bags from Hippesnuffelzakjes.nl are extremely suitable to also lure a frightened cat out of its shelter space.
- Valerian and Matabi: Not all cats respond to Catnip so it doesn't always work. There are other herbs that do. Valerian root has the same relaxing effect and is therefore also very suitable for use in products for cats. You could also use Matabi. You may have heard of Matabi sticks. These sticks were a hit here at home. They smell nice and Spidey likes to play fetch with them.
How to use Hippe Snuffelzakjes
- I got all my bags at the same time. But this was for the pictures. It is better to give them one at a time and then switch them sometimes. Otherwise the smell can get overwhelming.
- If you put a bag with a toy, this will also gradually get a hint of the smell of the bag and will become interesting again.
- After playing, store the bags in a closed bag or, for example, an old jam jar to retain the fragrance longer.
- Only let your cat play with the bags when you are around. They are not indestructible so always keep an eye on it.
Do I recommend these bags?
I already told you that I went crazy when I got the bags. I even drooled. me and my brother already know the smell of catnip and Matabi and respond very well to this. As said before, our servants think we get a little high. I think it at least brings me to other places. Spidey quickly picked up the catnip bag and then went to play with the other bags. All afternoon we had fun and we even ran away with the packaging of the bags, which was still on the table. Our female servant was so happy about us liking the bags that she forgot to clean that up...
The bags also included a toy mouse. This mouse has seen all corners of the room through the mini's that we currently foster. They were very happy with it and one of the minis even seemed to respond to the bag with Matabi. Although that is still a little early with an age of 10 weeks. The bags are definitely a hit here and my catmom will definitely order from Hippesnuffelzakjes.nl.
You will also find a page with all kinds of gifts for your cat's birthday. But our birthday is in april so we will have to wait a little longer for that. But there you can order a cool package with all kinds of toys and bags. In addition to fun for cats, you can also find various things for dogs. Make sure you do not have a dog that is to much while playing because then the bags are less suitable.

Leuk! Helaas hebben wij geen kat(ten) meer. Wellicht in de toekomst als ik het weer aandurf (ik ben allergisch behalve voor een bepaald ras. Alleen raskatten zijn over het algemeen veel kwetsbaarder en wij hebben zoveel verdriet gehad over hun vroegtijdige overlijden). Afijn, meer on topic lijken mij dit hele leuke en fijne speeltjes.
